The “-ber” months are here; which means that Christmas is right around the corner. With an approximately 90% Christian population, 80% of whom are Catholic, it is no wonder that Christmas in the Philippines is one of the most important and widely celebrated occasions. It is also probably the world’s longest Christmas season, with festivities starting as early as September — one sees massive displays of parols and Christmas decor, hears Christmas songs playing non-stop in malls, and smells bibingka and puto bumbong being sold from sidewalk stalls.
