4-Ways-to-Avoid-Acne-ScarsIf you have skin that scars easily, then you are likely going to be prone to scarring from acne as well. No matter what is causing your acne, from puberty to allergies to stress, here are a few simple ways to avoid those unsightly acne scars that acne can sometimes leave behind:

1. Follow a Skincare Routine

Treat your acne as soon as it develops. When you start to see the signs of a breakout, follow a skincare routine that works for you. If you do not have a routine yet, then try something as simple as washing your face with a gentle cleanser twice a day and following with a non-greasy, oil-free moisturizer. This should help clear your skin faster than not doing anything at all!

2. Stop Touching Your Face

Avoid any type of activity or food that will cause inflammation. Yes, this sounds pretty straight forward, but something as simple as picking at your acne just a little bit can cause your skin to become inflamed and cause scarring. Keeping your hands away from your skin is going to be the best remedy.

3. Avoid the Sun

Avoid the sun! The sun can inflame skin very quickly and in very little time spent outdoors. If you must go outside during a flare up of acne, make sure you use a water-based sunscreen that is safe for sensitive skin with a high SPF to keep your skin as protected as possible.

4. Talk with Doctor

Don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor if things start to go beyond what you can handle. Acne scars can last a lifetime if they get really bad, so make sure that there is not a secondary reason for the scarring by checking with your doctor. He or she may help you more than you can even imagine!

Simple But Effective Tips

Simple tips such as these can really help reduce the scarring that acne often leaves behind. If you have been experiencing scarring left behind from your acne, then make sure you are doing everything you possibly can to help reduce your own impact on your skin. The less you mess with it now, the more grateful you will be later for following these tips!

Thank you for sharing this quick tips Liz. Moisturizers are cheap and yet lots of us ignore them. Creating a routine is actually easy and buying a moisturizer is where you start 🙂
