5 Environmental Skin Dangers
There are some environmental dangers that we know of and there are some that we don’t even think about but all of them could have potentially dangerous side effects when it comes to our skin. These steps are simple to follow to avoid many environmental skin dangers that affect our skin and in turn will keep our bodies healthier:
1. The Sun
Always use sunscreen even if you are only planning to be outside for a few minutes. Use an all-over body moisturizer that contains sunscreen and don’t forget to put it on the more commonly forgotten areas, such as the top of the ears, back of the neck, under the chin, and on the tops of your hands and feet.
2. Outdoor Pollution
The easiest way to avoid this danger is to make sure that you thoroughly cleanse your skin at least twice daily. The sooner you get these irritants off of your skin, the better, but make sure you don’t over-dry your skin because cleansing more than two to three times daily. Twice a day with a gentle cleanser is sufficient to keep skin clean from the normal daily environment.
3. Indoor Pollution
This is one of the harder dangers to avoid, because they can creep up without people even noticing. The best way to avoid this danger is to make sure you keep up with dusting and vacuuming every day so that you are limiting your exposure to dust mites and dirt that can float around in the air.
Use chemicals only as directed and in a well-ventilated area, covering your skin whenever possible, because chemicals can quickly soak into the skin before you can get them washed off and wreak havoc within your body.
5. Avoid Smoking
Avoid smoking, and if you currently smoke, then make sure to quit as soon as you possibly can. You should also avoid second-hand smoke as much as possible. It is hard for your body to filter out toxins if it is covered in a film of smoke that is not letting clean air through.
Keep Skin Clean and Healthy
Avoiding as many of these environmental factors as possible will not only give you a healthier body, but also will give you healthier skin that can keep you better protected. Our skin goes through a lot each day, so we need to make sure we take the time to keep our skin as clean and healthy as we can so it can help take care of us in return.
