Breakouts From Stress
Though acne is not caused by stress, stress can indeed make acne worse and cause more breakouts to occur. It is important to take care of yourself and be aware when you are getting stressed out so you can take proper steps to remain calm and protect your skin against acne. Follow these steps and you will definitely be better at handling stress when it hits:
As always stated, cleanse your face morning and night and follow with an oil-free moisturizer. A clean, hydrated face is key to fighting bacteria and germs from collecting on and in your skin.
Use an over-the-counter topical cream that has benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as the main active ingredient. These ingredients are great at killing bacteria that cause acne and are even better for spot treatment acne. Use at least every night for best results.
Get good sleep every night! Your skin restores itself at night so it’s imperative to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Your skin, body, and mind will all feel better. We promise. To sleep better, turn off your computer, cell phone, and tv at least 1 hour before you lay down to sleep.
Exercise at least 4 days a week to have a strong body from the inside out. You will also sweat out toxins from your body that can actually fester in your body for longer than they should. SWEAT THAT JUNK OUT! Exercising releases stress and will help you sleep better as well.
Being still and silent for at least 30 minutes a day will help you calm down, especially when you feel high levels of anxiety. Turn off and put away any distractions and just BE. Close your eyes, take deep slow breaths in through your nose and out of your mouth, and get re-centered.
Drink plenty of water in general, but this is especially important when you are feeling stressed out. Avoid caffeine because it is known to make you more jittery, hyper, and obviously doesn’t help you sleep at night!
