In the Philippines, Esport has started to become a new breed of sport. Compared to other traditional sports, which usually involve physical exertions, Esport requires not only certain level of skillfulness but also ingenuity. Filipinos is known of their immense talent for eSports. Taiwan is known for its advance technology in their gaming products. What if you combined both? A hard-to-beat tandem that could shake the walls of global eSports.
2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup was held last October 4 to October 6, 2019 at SM City North Edsa, The Block Atrium in Quezon City. Guest, gaming enthusiasts, and spectators were treated to the demonstration of how the synthesis of Pinoy prowess and Taiwan Excellence can elevate the local eSports community.
Highlighting exhilarating tournaments for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and League of Legends (LoL), the teams who vied for a slice of competition’s P430,000 prize pool showed how fabulous game play can be further boosted through the use of high-quality gaming devices from Taiwan brands.
Among the products on site were the Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix Scar III G531, ROG Strix G G731GV, Aus TUF Gaming FX505DV, and ROG Zephyrus M, Gigabyte’s Z390 Aorus Waterforce Xtreme motherboard, Aorus memory cards and peripherals, AVerMedia’s plug-and-play AM310 USB microphone, InWin’s WINBOT Limited Edition Transparent Spherical case, and Kingmax’s Semiconductor were also on display for guest to try out. Transcend and T-Force also showcased their line of memory cards and external portable SSDs, white Zyxel will introduce its tri-brand Wi-Fi system and an array of peripherals from YPG, Zadak, and G.Skill were also demoed at the event.
As thousand of guests and spectators witnessed the tournaments and experienced Taiwan gaming products through brand booths, the 2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup has proven the viability of the Philippines as a rapidly growing market for gaming. With more and more Filipinos getting into gaming, streaming and professional eSports, Taiwan promises to streghten its commitment to support aspiring eSport athletes and budding enthusiasts by making their latest and most advanced gaming devices and producrs more easily and accessible to the Filipino consumers.

As a next step to help boost the Philippine eSports community, the winning team of CS:GO tournament will be representing the country in the upcoming international competition in Taiwan, which will be culmination of a series of Taiwan Excellence eSports Cups also held in Malaysia, Thailand, and India.
Also featured in the event are a cosplay competition that celebrated Filipino creativity and ingenuity, brand booths where guests got to try and experience Taiwan’s latest gaming devices first-hand, games, and activities, entertainment from UPeepz Dance Crew and pop-rock band GraceNote, and appearance by gaming and cosplay celebrities Myrthle Sarrosa and Ashely Gosiengfiao.
The 2019 Taiwan Excellence eSport Cup is organized by the Bureaue of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA): with partner brands Asus Republic of Gamers, Aorus, AVerMedia, In-Win, Kingmax, Transcend, XPG, T Force, Zadak, G.Skill, and Zyxel.
