Dr. Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital 70 Years Championing Mother Care Since 1948

In a press briefing held last July 31, 2018 at Annabel’s Restaurant in Quezon City, Dr. Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital or also known as JDMH who’s majority owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corp. shared their plans to expand in the next five years. One of their future plans is that they are targeting to increase the number of its hospital beds to 100 beds by the year 2022.  

Established in 1948 as The Delgado Clinic, the facility expanded through the years and was later renamed Dr. Jesus C. Delgado Memorial Hospital in memory of its founder, Dr. Jesus C. Delgado, a pioneering medical board topnotcher from the University of Santo Tomas with a vision of enhancing the quality of life through excellent personalized patient care. The Delgado Clinic started as a maternity & children’s clinic with only 4 beds and 1 delivery room.

In 1960, Delgado Clinic expanded its infrastructure that increased its capacity, and was first to introduce in the Philippines, the Vacuum Extraction, Doppler Ultrasonic Device, and Pitocin. Furthering the growth and development of the institution. By the end of 1960’s, more than 20,000 babies have been delivered.

After the demise of both Dr. & Mrs. Jesus C. Delgado in the 1980′, the reigns of the medical facility were transferred to its former President and Administrator, Ma. Violeta Delgado-Cojuangco, who the completed her master’s degree in Hospital Administration with honors at Ateneo De Manila.

Dr. Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital became the 14th family member of the Metro Pacific Group of Hospitals led by Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan in year 2017. This enabled the 70-bed tertiary hospital to renovate its facilities which made the hospital environment even livelier, as observed positively by the patients; upgrade its medical equipment to delivery excellent service with accuracy and expands its capacity to serve its surrounding communities.

The Dr. Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital Medical Staff consists of over 1,000 active and visiting board-certified physicians with a wide-range of clinical specialties. JDMH takes pride in its roster of medical staff who are not only outstanding in what they do but who regard their patients as partners in addressing their needs. JDMH believes in a collaborative approach in holistically treating a patient.

Last June, the Dr. Jesus Delga do Memorial Hospital Center for Women’s Health was recently opened. It offers comprehensive health care service specially dedicated for women composed of the following,

First Time Mom Unit

–  A facility that caters to need of the soon to be first time mom. Their lecture includes Pregnancy and Childbirth Preparation Classes, Vaccination and Newborn Care Counseling, Nutrition Counseling and Exercise Classes, Basic First Aid and CPR Classes and Breastfeeding Counselling and Play Workshops.
