A lot of people have asked me about my blogging career: is it hard; is it free; how to start a blog; does it make money; how to have a lot of readers; when is the best time to blog; and many more. I’ve been blogging for ten year now and these questions got me thinking and made me realized that blogging has really changed my life a lot.
Looking back in my ten years of blogging, I realized that a lot of happened in my life. It may not be all good but I’m still thankful and grateful even for the bad one. I have no idea on how to be a successful blogger but in my ten years of blogging, I want to share with you some of the changes in me and in my life because I blog.
From online diary to own domain blog
I was a member of our school newspaper when I was in high school. I was one of the members who was in charged with writing poems and short stories. I also love writing my everyday experience (Yes! Everyday!) in my diary or write a letter for myself.
Because of that, I decided to have my own little space on the world wide web – my online dairy where I can share my experience and maybe other people can relate too and we can share advices to each other. But during that time, they don’t know who is behind the online diary. Sadly, I lost interest along the way.
Fast forward to the year 2011, with the help of his niece, my boyfriend bought the domain lhyziebongon.com and gave it to me as his First-year anniversary gift. From there, I started to study and learn how WordPress works and the rest is history.
Blogging helped me gain my self confidence
I have this attitude that instead of uplifting myself and encouraging myself that I can do it, I tend to think that I can’t because I am shy.
I can still remember the very first event I attended as a blogger was the Barbie Live Show and I bring someone with me because I was so shy that time. After how many events, I have gained confidence and learned to go and attend events on my own. Without bringing someone with me. Because honestly, you are not allowed to bring a plus one with you in some events.
Blogging opened opportunities and more income for me and my daughter
My blog opened a lot of opportunities not just for me and for my daughter as well. I never imagined that I will be a brand ambassador of an online shop. Or I will promote products from different brands. Or me and my daughter will promote a milk brand. And a lot more.
A lot of Direct Advertisers also advertise on my blog for a paid post, link insertion or banner placement. Some may pay higher and some pay low but that is okay. I’m still thankful for it.
Blogging gives me freedom and flexibility
Most of my readers know that aside from blogging, I also work online as a Virtual Assistant and Email handles of a U.S based Jewelry Shop. With the help of blogging, I have a freedom on how I schedule my day or even my whole week. And since my work and my blogging is online, I can work anywhere and everywhere anytime of the day. I can also spend more time with my daughter because I have freedom and flexibility with my time.
Blogging helped me build friendship
I never imagined that through blogging, I have built relationship and friendship with other bloggers and PR because I’m shy. I met them through the events I attended and we become real friends.
Blogging helped me help my readers
Since my blog is earning in a way, I can now help my readers or other people who are in need in my own little way.
As a single mom, I’m very grateful to all the direct advertisers, company and brands that gave me and my daughter projects. I owe a lot to my blog – and if you are just starting your blogging journey or just new with this, I wish you all the best
Wow naman! We support you always po. More blessings to come on you!
