How GCash Saved This Shopaholic Shift Worker
But of late, work ironically has gotten in the way of my trips to the mall. For the past year since having been assigned to the graveyard shift, I frequently find myself heading straight home so I can catch up on precious sleep. I already lost count of the many grand sales and end-of-season sales I had to pass up because I was too sleepy or too drained for a quick detour to the mall to get my usual mood-boosting fix.
I’ve also told myself many times that this can’t be my new normal—there has to be a way somehow to be able to strike a balance between work and life (because shopping is life!).
The answer came to me a couple of months ago when my friend introduced me to GCash and its super convenient money-sending features. Imagine my relief when I realized that shopping is at my fingertips—I can do it anytime, anywhere even in the comfort of my bed right before I doze off!
All I needed to do after creating and verifying my account was to link my debit card and bank accounts to the mobile wallet app and the rest became a crucial turning point in the history of my shopping experience.
What got me hooked to this mobile app for doing what I love the most is that it eliminated the need to endure long lines in the bank to deposit my payment to online shops and partner merchants. All it takes is to cash in from my linked debit card and transfer the amount to the online seller.
It’s a good thing that many online and Instagram businesses now accept GCash as a payment option. GCash also has a wide range of direct pay partners, which include Sephora, Zalora, Shopee, Lazada and National Book Store, so I don’t really feel that my choices have become limited. It’s still like entering a big mall with a lot of stores to choose from, except that it’s my fingers now doing the shopping.
