Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines, whose portfolio has been trusted over the years for its premium health care, home and hygiene products, continues to step up as a force for good by extending efforts to promote proper hygiene and cleanliness in 55 public schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) and supporting the Department of Education’s (DepEd)  Brigada Eskwela (“Back-to-School Brigade”).

The Brigada Eskwela, with this year’s theme, “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral,” DepEd’s annual maintenance program that aims to bring together stakeholders to voluntarily participate and contribute time and skills to do repairs, clean-up work and prepare public elementary and secondary schools for the school opening.

Volunteers from P&G went to National Orthopedic Hospital School for Crippled Children in Quezon, City to help with minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning the classroom walls, windows, armchairs, and hallways in preparation for the school’s re-opening of in-person classes this August 2022.

P&G also donated Safeguard foaming hand soap products to 16 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of DepEd NCR to support and promote proper hygiene education among students and teachers as they return to school face-to-face. This will benefit 75,000 learners and 7,000 teachers across public schools in NCR. P&G’s participation in Brigada Eskwela highlights the Company’s commitment of using its hygiene brands and partnerships to be a force for good and a force for growth for the communities it serves.

#SafeWASH in Schools

As face-to-face classes resume, the need to ensure the health and safety of pupils and teachers becomes more crucial. Aside from its participation and donation of hygiene products in this year’s Brigada Eskwela, P&G Philippines in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, continues to support the Oplan Kalusugan (OK) sa DepEd and WASH in Schools (WinS) programs of the Department of Education by constructing 10-faucet, foot-pedal-operated hygiene facilities, distribution of hygiene supplies, provision of info-education materials, and conduct of hygiene education sessions in over 285 public schools in NCR and Rizal Province.

#SafeWASH in Schools aims to support the safe return of students, teachers, and staff upon resumption of face-to-face classes. This collaboration project aims to improve the WinS readiness of public schools by prioritizing zero-star rated schools under the category of group handwashing facilities in DepEd’s WinS Three Star Approach. To date, there are already 161 NCR and Rizal schools with new multi-faucet hand hygiene facilities, ensuring a healthy school community, WASH-ready and safe from germs and communicable diseases.
